CLAUDIA SCHWAB QUARTET

'hypnotically blended voices, accordion, fiddle, bass guitar and restrained percussion creating beautiful, multi-layered atmospherics. [...]

They were restless, contemplative, beautiful. The closest comparison,
in the folk world at least, would be Lau, and that is high praise indeed"

(Gavin McNamara, Downend Folk Club)

With a fondness for yodelling, Irish traditional, Indian classical and Eastern European music, Claudia and her singing quartet (fiddle, accordion, bass and percussion) make musical advances around the world, mesmerising audiences with their authenticity, versatility and vitality. The yodelling voice acts as a common thread running through the colourful palette of musical styles, genres and cultures, which interweave through Claudia's music into a new entity.

Emerging from Claudia's solo project, the band started as a trio in 2014, following on from the launch of her debut album "Amber Sands". Over the next two years the trio performed in Austria, Slovenia, Estonia, Bavaria and Ireland, including shows at the Imagine Arts festival Waterford (IRE), the Viljandi Pärimusmuusika festival (EST), the UCC FUAIM festival (IRE), Sligo Live festival (IRE) and Emonska Promenada (SLO). Before the release of her second album, and accompanying EP, "Attic Mornings", in 2017, the trio transformed to its current quartet formation. Regular band members include English accordionist/clog dancer and vocalist Hannah James and Estonian Bassist and pianist Marti Tärn.

'this four-piece band played with a freedom that has been totally unsurpassed in the two years of Downend Folk Club gigs [...]' (Gavin McNamara, Downend Folk Club
